CCNE Calls for Comments on Accreditation Standards
Posted March 6, 2008

The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) invites comments on its Proposed Standards for Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Program. An open invitation to provide input is extended to all interested parties, including university and program administrators; faculty; practitioners; representatives of regulatory, certification, accreditation, state and federal agencies; students; alumni, employers of nurses; and others with an interest in the preparation of competent nurses.

The Proposed Standards document is available for review. This is the document by which CCNE will evaluate for accreditation baccalaureate and master’s degree nursing programs, as well as Doctor of Nursing Practice programs.

Comments must be received at the CCNE offices by March 28, 2008. Comments may be directed at the standards in their entirety or at any individual standard or key element. Constituents are also encouraged to review the new Elaboration and Supporting Documentation sections, as well as the Glossary. Please be specific in offering your comments by identifying any gaps that exist or language you would like to see incorporated, deleted, or otherwise modified in the Proposed Standards.

Send comments via e-mail to anniea@aacn.nche.edu or fax to 202-887-8476. Alternatively, mail comments to: Annie Alesandrini, CCNE Accreditation Manager, One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington, DC 20036. CCNE values constituent input and will consider all written comments in which name, affiliation, and contact information are identified. All such comments will be shared with the CCNE Standards Committee. If you have any questions about the standards revision process, please contact 202-887-6791 x248.
