CCNE Evaluator Training

The CCNE continues to offer evaluator training programs, as needed, for prospective on-site evaluators to review collegiate nursing education programs as part of the accreditation process. More than 1,000 individuals have been nominated to participate in this selective process. Seven evaluator training programs have been hosted since 1998. Future training programs will be held as needed.

The primary goals of the CCNE evaluator training programs are:

  • to introduce prospective on-site evaluators to CCNE policies, procedures and standards;
  • to familiarize training participants with the practices unique to specialized accreditation;
  • to promote collegial relationships among individuals who take interest in enhancing the quality of collegiate nursing education;
  • to promote dialogue about the interpretation of CCNE accreditation standards;
  • to ensure consistency in the application of accreditation standards and, thus, reliability in the review process; and
  • to communicate to prospective on-site evaluators how to participate appropriately and effectively as representatives of CCNE.
