CNC Call for Volunteers
The Commission on Nurse Certification is now accepting applications for three available positions on both the CNC Board of Commissioners (CNCBOC) and the Marketing Committee. CNCBOC positions require a three-year commitment. Service to the Marketing Committee is a two-year appointment. CNC Support National Effort to Enhance Patient Care Coordination
The Commission on Nurse Certification's (CNC) Board of Commissioners applauds the efforts of the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN) and the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) to enlist nurse leaders in national efforts to coordinate care. In keeping with this call to action, the CNC would like to underscore that the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) - a master's prepared, certified, clinically focused nursing role – is particularly well-suited to accomplish the goals of enhancing care coordination across practice settings.

Call for Abstracts - 2016 CNL Summit
AACN invites faculty, nursing administrators, practicing CNLs, and students to submit abstracts that showcase initiatives and innovations in either CNL education or practice. Abstracts must be submitted by 11:59 pm (ET) on Friday, October, 16 2015.

Postgraduate Fellowship Opportunity for CNL Students
Kaiser Permanente is now accepting applications for its Postgraduate Fellowship in Health Care Administration in Southern California beginning July 2016. CNL students graduating between August 2015 and July 2016 are eligible to apply! The fellowship program recognizes talented early careerists who can develop their skills and leadership potential in a dynamic and unique environment. It provides broad exposure to the opportunities and challenges faced when managing a large, fully integrated, health maintenance organization. CNC Welcomes New Coordinator
AACN is pleased to announce the new Certification Coordinator for the Commission on Nurse Certification, Yenny Caceres effective August 10, 2015. Ms. Caceres has over four years of experience working with certification programs. She is the former Certificate and Credentialing Associate for the School Nutrition Association. Ms. Caceres began her career as a Recertification Coordinator then Manager at the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners. She has coordinated the exam development process, worked with several computer-based testing programs, and centralized database systems. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Mary Baldwin College with a double major in Political Science and History.

CNL Faculty Preparing for the CNL Exam in Japan
CNC along with its Board of Commissioners continue to support expanding the CNL initiative to CNL education programs in Japan. This will allow faculty and students to shadow CNLs at Saint Anthony College under the supervision of Asako T. Katsumata, PhD, RN, CNL and Gordana (Dana) Dermody, MSN, RN, CNL. This month, they are working with faculty at Tsukaba University in Japan as they study for the CNL Certification Exam. We wish them the best of luck!

Upcoming CNL Presentation
CNL Ambassadors, Miriam Bender, PhD, RN, CNL and Tricia Thomas, PhD, RN, CNL along with Elizabeth Murphy, MBA, RN will be presenting at the AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting that will be held June 14 – 16, 2015 in Minneapolis, MN. Their presentation, CNL Integration into Care Delivery Microsystems: Quality and Safety Outcomes at the Unit Level, will explore how organization-wide CNL incorporation impacts the care environment.

CNL Exam Cut Score
CNL subject matter experts, along with CNC's testing vendor, completed the item writing workshop and approved a new form for the CNL Certification Exam on April 23, 2015. The new exam is comprised of 140 questions, of which 130 are scored. The cut score (passing score), effective immediately, for the exam is 88. Taking the CNL Global!
Healthcare providers from Kyoto University in Japan (in collaboration with Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL) visit Mercy Health Saint Mary's to learn about the CNL Role.
