Qualifications: A Masters degree in Nursing, Doctorate preferred and a California Registered Nurse license or eligibility for one is required. Evidence of scholarship, administrative ability, effective teaching experience at the baccalaureate level and knowledge of academic and nursing systems are essential.
The Director of the BSN program reports to the Dean of Nursing and provides leadership in accreditation, faculty appointments and development, curriculum implementation, and internal and external departmental relationships.
Founded in 1925, Mount St. Mary’s, a Catholic liberal arts college, established the first baccalaureate nursing program in Los Angeles. The Department of Nursing offers a traditional baccalaureate degree program, an accelerated program for second-degree students, an associate degree program, a Masters program and an AD N to Masters Program. The nursing program was the first program to implement The Roy Adaptation Model as a curricular foundation. The department continues to utilize and refine the Roy Model.
