Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track One of eight campuses of Indiana University, Indiana University Kokomo is a comprehensive non-residential campus located in Kokomo, Indiana, a city with a population of about 48,000, 50 miles north of Indianapolis, Headquarters of Sigma Theta Tau International. Committed to student success and diversity, the campus serves approximately 2,800 students from an 11-county area in north central Indiana. An additional 220 students pursue degrees in technology in cooperation with Purdue University. IU Kokomo has approximately 240 faculty and staff and 125 part-time employees. The Indiana University Kokomo School of Nursing invites applications for four tenure-track assistant professors with primary responsibilities in the baccalaureate nursing degree program. Indiana University Kokomo promotes a dynamic learning environment where faculty of differing backgrounds can successfully pursue their academic goals. Nursing faculty believe that high quality education is their primary mission. Initial appointment will begin August 1, 2008 and is for academic year 2008-2009. The primary teaching responsibilities are in the following areas:
Tenure-track faculty members are expected to be effective teachers, active researchers (publishing in journals), and participating members of the university, professional, and local communities. Educational preparation at the master’s level with a major in nursing is required; completion of the doctorate is expected within 2 years of the date of appointment. Candidates will be evaluated on previous teaching experience along with leadership and organizational skills, effective interpersonal skills and the potential for scholarly productivity in their field of expertise. Salary is competitive and based on a 10-month commitment.
