Assistant/Associate Professor Positions
(Program Expansion)

Due to program expansion, applications are being accepted for four full-time, tenure-track positions at the level of associate/assistant professor: 

Adult Nursing, two positions (Search #s CHP-N-2151 and CHP-N-2185)
Maternal-Child Health Nursing (Search # CHP-N-2150)
Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (Search # CHP-N-2184)

One of the Adult Nursing positions is for our Hagerstown Center campus.  Start date for each position may be Fall 2008 or Spring 2009.

The successful candidates are expected to possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, to show potential for a productive research/scholarship program, and to pursue external funding. Responsibilities will include classroom and clinical teaching with undergraduate and graduate students and engaging in scholarly activities and academic advising, with a commitment to service to the University and the community.

To be eligible for a tenure-track position, applicants are required to have a master's degree in the appropriate clinical nursing discipline and a doctoral degree in nursing or a related field.  Applicants who are ABD may be considered, but appointment will be at the instructor rank, and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2009, for applicants appointed Fall 2008, and by September 1, 2009, for applicants appointed Spring 2009.  Highly qualified individuals with masters degrees and substantial doctoral work completed may be hired into a clinical faculty position, with consideration for conversion to a tenure-track position upon completion of the doctoral degree. Licensure or eligibility for licensure in Maryland is required. Two years of recent experience in teaching and/or practice related to the clinical specialty and demonstration of scholarly achievement are preferred.  Candidates who wish to be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor must meet all requirements for promotion to associate professor rank at Towson University.

The Department: The Department of Nursing is a CCNE accredited program with approximately 280 undergraduate students. In addition, the department offers a masters program in community-based nursing and a post-baccalaureate certificate in nursing education with over 70 students enrolled.  The Department’s faculty are engaged in a number of collaborative program offerings on and off-campus and support the innovative use of technology and program formats and faculty models to address the nursing faculty shortage..
