The Need for Doctorally Prepared Nurses: The National Academy of Sciences Report
The recent report from the National Academy of Sciences calls for nursing to increase the number of doctorally prepared nurses in a number of ways: by doubling the number of nurse scientists; developing a non-research clinical doctorate to prepare expert practitioners who can also serve as clinical faculty; and increasing the number of productive research years for nurses prepared in PhD, DNSc and similar doctoral programs. Learn more about these recommendations and their implications from two nurse leaders active in preparation of the report.

Faculty Career Development: Our Own and Others

What is involved with faculty career development, and why bother? Join an experienced academic leader whose recent focus has been helping faculty identify their own career goals, strategies to be completely successful in reaching them, and considerations for assisting colleagues with the same type of personal reflection. Think about the differing perspectives of the faculty member, the dean/department chair, the university, and students. Identify career stages, and the hallmarks and faculty development needs of each. Join colleagues in conversation about best practices across the county.
Speaker: Angela Barron McBride, PhD, University Dean Emerita and Distinguished Professor, Department of Environments for Health, School of Nursing, Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis, IN
