Media Relations Roundtable for Today's Colleges of Nursing
Want to strengthen your relationships with local and national media? Hoping to capture a reporter's attention to help launch your capital campaign? Bring your issues to the table—the media roundtable—to discuss with fellow nursing colleagues. Whether it's dealing with crisis situations or exploring best pitches, this roundtable is a great way to dialogue for great results.

Nursing School Advisory Board Development and Operation
This session will provide participants with an overview of how an Advisory Board was envisioned, defined, funded,and launched at a Masters I University School of Nursing,with the primary responsibility of the Board to advance the fundraising objectives for the School’s strategic long-term growth. Participants will learn first hand how to: set the vision early on; establish meaningful and integrated roles and responsibilities for the Dean, faculty, Board members, and representatives of the Advancement Division; clearly define the Board’s charge; design and implement a two-day Board retreat; and engage Board members, faculty, and Advancement representatives in securing funding for a targeted initiative. The fundraising priority is a Learning Resource Center that includes a Laerdal simulation laboratory.

Getting your Dean Excited about Development
Dean’s have a to-do list a mile long. Their priorities vary from faculty shortages, to student issues, curriculum changes, budgets, and rankings. The last thing most deans want to worry about is fundraising. This session will provide participants with an overview of strategies to get deans’ excited about development. Participants will learn how to create a partnership with their dean to accomplish their development goals.

General Information

Registration
The registration fee for the 2006 Nursing Advancement Professionals Conference is $389 for members $439 for non-members. The deadline for early registration is February 22, 2006. The registration fee after February 22 is $459 and $509 for non-members. Deans also registered for the AACN Spring Annual Meeting will receive the reduced rate of $309. Please note that there is a $30 discount for NAP Network Members. E-mail messages confirming registration for this meeting will be sent to all participants.

Hotel Information
A block of rooms is reserved at The Fairmont Washington, 2401 M Street, NW, Washington, DC 20037; (202) 429-2400 or (877) 222-2266. The room rate is $205 single/double. The cutoff date for hotel reservations is February 15, 2006. To make reservations, please call the hotel directly requesting the group rate for the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. Reservations made after February 15 will be on a space and rate available basis only. Please make your reservations early as space fills quickly at the hotel.

Transportation
Reagan National Airport (DCA) is located approximately 15 minutes from The Fairmont Hotel. Dulles International Airport (IAD) is approximately 30 minutes from the hotel. Baltimore/Washington Airport (BWI) is approximately one hour from the hotel. Taxis are recommended from Reagan National and Dulles Airports; Super Shuttle is available for ground transportation from BWI (approximate cost is $35 each way).

Refund and Cancellation Policy
Registrations that are canceled up to one week before the meeting will be refunded minus a $50 administrative fee. Cancellations received with less than one week's notice will be refunded minus a $150 administrative fee. There will be no refunds for no-shows.

AACN reserves the right to cancel this conference and any group activity that does not meet minimal group requirements. Non-refundable airline tickets are the responsibility of the registrant.
