Government Affairs Grassroots Stars
Program
In 2001, the Government Affairs Committee
(GAC) created a program to recognize AACN members that are not
currently serving on the GAC or Board of Directors who have made
significant contributions to AACN's advocacy efforts. By recognizing
these hard working members, the GAC hopes to interest others in
the process and ultimately increase AACN's legislative and regulatory
effectiveness here in Washington, DC. Grassroots Stars advance
AACN's agenda by making lobbying visits in Washington and at home;
testifying before Congress or a federal agency; writing letters
and making phone calls to congressional offices and encouraging
their faculty and students to do so. These efforts bring advocacy
for nursing schools, students, and the nursing profession to Washington,
DC ultimately to emphasize patient advocacy. Thank you for all
your hard work!
