Write to Congress

Write to Congress is a simple Web-based system designed to make advocacy easy for you! Periodically, AACN governmental affairs staff will request that you send targeted letters to your members of Congress to educate legislators on the issues that affect your school and impact the education and research of the nursing profession.

This year, AACN member schools and nurses across the nation are dealing with the devastating effects of the nursing shortage. We are asking for your efforts. While AACN is lobbying in Washington, DC on academic initiatives to resolve the nursing shortage, we need you to request support and action from your legislators by sending the following correspondence:

This system allows you to send emails to your legislators, but AACN recommends that you print letters on your official letterhead and send them via fax. After the anthrax attacks on Capitol Hill in October 2001, Congress communicates most expediently via fax or e-mail. Though the method of communication has changed meaningful personalized letters still grab the attention of your elected officials. Congressional staff realizes that behind every support letter they receive, there are likely 100 more constituents who share the writer's perspective.
