AACN
Partners with EBI to Provide Assessment Tools for Nursing
Programs

In
the spring of 2000, AACN piloted an assessment survey of
graduating nursing students developed by Educational Benchmarking,
Inc. (EBI) with eight AACN-member schools. Participating
schools found the comparative data very enlightening and
useful in support of their assessment and continuous improvement
efforts. Based on the success of the pilot, AACN has
formed a partnership with EBI to offer a wide range of assessment
tools, including:
These
assessment tools can provide valuable support to your accreditation
review activities, since they were developed based on recommendations
included in The Essentials of Baccalaureate Education
for Professional Nursing Practice (AACN, 1998); The
Essentials of Master’s Education for Advanced Practice
Nursing (AACN, 1996); and Criteria for Evaluation
of Nurse Practitioner Programs (National Task Force
on Quality Nurse Practitioner Education, 2002).
We
are aware that most nursing programs do their own surveying,
but the AACN/EBI assessment tools provide comprehensive,
confidential, comparative data with peer schools.
By being able to put your constituent's perceptions in a
comparative context, we believe members will be able to
more effectively focus faculty and administrative attention
on needed areas of improvement.
