Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education

Responsibilities    

The Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education & Professor [Associate/Full] in Bouve College of Health Sciences is responsible for providing academic leadership, in collaboration with School Deans and Department Chairs, for all undergraduate education programs within the College (health sciences, nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, speech language pathology and audiology). The Associate Dean promotes the education of undergraduate students by leading efforts in program development, assessment and enrollment. As a member of the Dean’s senior leadership team, the Associate Dean plays an integral role in strategic planning for the College.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Associate Dean works with the Dean of the College, School Deans, Department Chairs and the Office of Student Services to oversee operations of the College’s undergraduate programs as well as to lead the development of new undergraduate programs, initiatives, and course offerings. The Associate Dean coordinates the enhancement of student interprofessional educational experiences among programs and develops initiatives to promote teaching excellence, enrich the College’s Honors Program, and advance the scholarship of teaching and learning. The Associate Dean oversees the College’s Office of Student Services to address undergraduate enrollment and retention, student academic progress and the course evaluation process. The Associate Dean represents the College on university committees related to undergraduate curriculum and affairs and regularly meets with Associate Deans of undergraduate education from other Colleges in Vice-Provost led university-wide meetings.

Qualifications    

The successful candidate will have a PhD or appropriate advanced professional doctoral degree in health or education, strong relevant academic background specific to undergraduate programs in the health professions and health sciences, and at least two years experience in an administrative position in a university setting. The candidate will be eligible for an academic appointment in the appropriate department of the College based his or her record of teaching, service and scholarly activity. The candidate will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with administrators, faculty and students who exemplify and value diversity in all of its forms.
