The Division of Nutritional Sciences (DNS) in the College of Human Ecology and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University is seeking a Nurse Scientist. This position manages the daily operations of the clinical procedure space in the Human Metabolic Research Unit (HMRU), performs clinical procedures for human participant research in the HMRU, collaborates with the administration of Gannett Health Services to meet the University’s medical oversight requirements, assists faculty with Institutional Review Board (IRB) proposal submissions and provides instruction for the DNS Post-Baccalaureate Program in Health Studies.
This position manages the ongoing staffing, facility and financial resources of the HMRU in support of faculty research involving human participants. The incumbent will manage the ongoing financial, operating and facility needs of the HMRU clinical procedures space and will report to and work with the DNS Director and the DNS Executive Director of Administration and Finance to meet these needs. This position will assist principal investigators and their staff in meeting and resolving administrative issues associated with their research conducted in the HMRU.
This position will understand Cornell and external requirements for conducting human participant research, and will work with the administration of Gannett Health Services to meet these requirements in performing clinical procedures required by, and in support of, this research.
The incumbent will work with the Director of the DNS Post-Baccalaureate Program in Health Studies to provide didactic and laboratory based instruction to students in this program.
This is a full-time year-round position available immediately.
Requirements: Licensure as an RN in New York State and National and New York State nurse practitioner certification. Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience in a relevant setting (e.g. hospital or outpatient facility) or equivalent. Experience or demonstrated ability to manage a clinical/research facility required. Experience providing health-related academic instruction preferred. Training and experience performing clinical procedures such as, but not limited to phlebotomy, subcutaneous fat biopsy, muscle biopsy, helpful.
