Director, School of Nursing
12-month open rank position, tenure-track appointment beginning August 10, 2013. The School of Nursing is a unit in the Waldron College of Health and Human Services, which provides opportunities for collaborative practice and scholarship with a variety of disciplines in the health and human services professions.
The Director is responsible for well-established community-based programs in nursing: BSN, RN to BSN, DNP with concentrations in FNP, Nurse-Midwifery, and Psych-Mental Health. The School has approximately 50 full and part-time faculty and staff and over 400 students. The SON is dedicated to innovative practice, scholarship, and research. The Director should have a commitment to shared governance, and an ability to collaborate with and advocate for faculty, staff, and students in developing their full potential.
Required qualifications include master's degree in nursing and doctoral degree in nursing or a related field; RN licensure in Virginia or eligibility for licensure and eligibility for tenure. Preference will be given to candidates with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; creative problem-solving and visionary thinking; experience in scholarship; the ability to secure and direct grants; fund raising, leadership and community service; and experience in curriculum planning, program evaluation, and accreditation processes.
