The University of Iowa (UI) invites nominations and applications for the position of Executive Associate Dean of the College of Nursing.
Established in 1898, the UI College of Nursing actively supports the recognition of nursing as a profession of leaders, scientists and researchers.
The Executive Associate Dean is responsible to the Dean and provides creative leadership in the promotion of excellence in undergraduate and graduate nursing education. The role encompasses oversight of and accountability for academic and student affairs, directing faculty with respect to the nature of nursing and the structure of educational programs and is ultimately accountable for the quality and currency of the nursing curriculum. The Executive Associate Dean will provide impetus, direction and support to faculty as they design and implement educational programs that meet the needs of a changing society and health care system. The Executive Associate Dean assumes responsibilities of the Dean as delegated and serves as the CEO in the absence of the Dean.
The ideal candidate will have earned a doctorate in nursing or a doctorate in a related field with a graduate degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing. Required/desired qualifications include:
- Leadership in academic operations and undergraduate/graduate teaching;
- Demonstrated experience in baccalaureate and graduate degree nursing academic administration;
- Demonstrated experience in motivating faculty and leading teams in a dynamic environment;
- Demonstrated experience to manage the complex interaction of academic programming needs and fiscal resources;
- Record of functioning as an effective collaborator; and
- Demonstrated experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the academic environment.
The selected candidate will have a demonstrable teaching and research record commensurate with the rank of full professor and be a licensed Registered Nurse and eligible for licensure in the State of Iowa. The selected candidate must complete the State of Iowa Registered Nurse Licensure process upon appointment.
