Vice Dean for research

The University of North Dakota is the flagship university of the state and is located in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Most recently, the State has been experiencing an increase in the student population and growth in its research agenda. The College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines houses three departments: Nursing, Social Work and Nutrition & Dietetics. The multidisciplinary nature of the University provides a rich environment for interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary programs of research.

The University of North Dakota, College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines is recruiting for a senior administrator, Vice Dean for Research.  The Vice Dean for Research will be responsible for coordinating and operationalizing various research initiatives related to the research goals and objectives within three departments at the college: Nursing, Social Work and Nutrition & Dietetics.  The Vice Dean for Research will work closely with the senior leadership team to assist the College, Department Chairs and the Vice Dean for Academics with the overall mission of community based research within the university.  The Vice Dean for Research will develop community based rural health programs, assist faculty with grant writing efforts, provide direction to efficiently promote an infrastructure for academic, research, public service and clinical programs within the College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines.  Additionally, the Vice Dean for Research will work with doctoral and post-doctoral students enrolled in the fields of Nursing, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine and Psychology.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must be a visionary, creative, entrepreneurial leader with a successful program of research.  The candidate must have experience in research, building community relationships, supporting development activities, and involvement in building successful team-based research programs.  Additionally, the candidate will have successful funding at the national, international, private or foundational level. 

Candidates may come from academia, public/private organizations, government or the corporate sector. The Vice Dean for Research must have grant writing experience, ability to work well with multi-disciplinary professionals, community constituents and corporate leaders.  Minimum of a PhD. in health related discipline, track record of peer-reviewed publications and five years of experience at the executive level or associate professor level within a university.

The College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines offers BS, RN-BS, MS and PhD nursing academic programs, innovative online education, simulation laboratory, and supportive student environment for both face-to-face and distance learning.
