Director of Nursing

The Nursing Program within the Morgan State University School of Community Health and Policy is currently seeking applicants for the position of Director of Nursing. Morgan State is an historically black college/university (HBCU) located in Baltimore, MD. It is designated as Maryland’s urban serving university with a commitment to community engagement. The program offers the BS and MS degrees.

responsibilities

The Director of Nursing will be responsible for the daily operation, organization, administration, general effectiveness, and supervision of the Nursing Program. The Director of Nursing must demonstrate strong leadership skills and a commitment to developing quality academic programs. Strategic planning, development, and accreditation work for nursing program is required.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Directing and leading faculty and staff to achieve program mission, goals and objectives. Creating and maintaining an organizational environment that encourages creative, productive, and effective delivery of academic programs. 
  • Planning, assigning, and evaluating work performance of faculty and staff.
  • Planning and conducting program evaluation on a regular basis.

qualifications

Eligible applicants should have the following qualifications:

  • A PhD or equivalent degree in Nursing
  • five or more years of experience in directing a nursing education program preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise faculty and staff
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, construction, implementation, and evaluation of nursing curricula
  • History of scholarly productivity preferred
  • Current Maryland R.N. license, or ability to obtain the license, required
  • Ability to work with University leadership
