Northeastern University’s Bouvé College of Health Sciences has announced a national search for their next Dean of the School of Nursing.
The School of Nursing is on a trajectory of excellence with a focus on research and scholarship. The wide range of programs offered by the School of Nursing from baccalaureate through DNP and PhD degrees highlights the responsiveness of the School to the nursing needs in the state, nation, and across the globe. We are seeking nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the School of Nursing. Working with faculty, staff, students, donors, alumni, the Dean of the School of Nursing/Associate Dean of Bouvé College at Northeastern University will provide the leadership, vision, and strategic planning to continue to move the school towards its short- and long-term goals in research, clinical practice, education, and status as a top-ranked school of nursing.
The Dean/Associate Dean will support the Nursing school faculty in fostering an increase in externally funded research and contribution to excellence in education and clinical practice, and in leading faculty recruitment, development, and advancement. As the school’s chief representative, advocate, and spokesperson, the dean will articulate the school’s vision and goals externally to potential students and faculty, alumni, affiliated health service providers, and donors, as well as internally to the university community. S/he will identify and encourage new initiatives and collaborations to broaden and strengthen the school’s programs. The dean will lead faculty and staff, and will oversee their budgets to ensure excellent and sustainable operations. In keeping with the collaborative goals of the school, the college, and the broader Northeastern organization, the dean will nurture a collegial academic community characterized by inclusiveness, cultural diversity, and respect.
The successful candidate will have at least 5 years experience in an administrative leadership role (ideally in the role of dean, associate or vice dean, department chair, or equivalent leadership position) in a prominent school of nursing, with a demonstrated track record including funded research, clinical excellence, and transformative education. She/he will have strong financial and operational management skills and demonstrated success in developing external sources of program support. Candidates will have a strong/extensive record of building and maintaining productive service and research collaborations and partnerships between a school of nursing and affiliated practice and research sites, including acute care hospitals, and community and ambulatory care facilities. An earned doctorate in nursing or related field is required and candidates should be at, or eligible for promotion to, the rank of a tenured full professor.

The new Arnold S. Goldstein Simulation Laboratories Suite opened in September 2013 and provides a state-of-the-art simulation center for interprofessional education.
