Assistant Professor Positions

Established in 1970, the Rhode Island College Nursing Program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The Program is a large baccalaureate nursing program in Rhode Island and partners with major health care agencies in the State to provide excellent nursing education. In September 2007 the School of Nursing began offering a Master of Science in Nursing program. The MSN program includes Adult with Acute Care emphasis (CNS and Acute Care NP) and Public Health/Community Leadership. The positions are pending budgetary approval; final appointments are subject to available funding.

BSN graduates achieve high NCLEX-RN pass rates. The student population is richly diverse: 26% report being minority, 12% are male and 25% are second degree candidates. Members of the nursing faculty are experienced teachers who are deeply committed to fostering the intellectual and professional development of students. Nursing faculty are engaged in scholarship and serve as leaders in the profession. Alumni, in addition to numbering over 4,000, are excelling in their careers as clinicians, teachers and leaders.

Assistant Professor, Nursing (Community Health)
Three-year, limited-term position.  Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and provide clinical instruction in community and public health settings. Requirements: Master of Science in Nursing; relevant teaching and clinical experience; current RN License. Preferred qualifications: Doctoral degree; college teaching experience.

Assistant Professor, Nursing, (Maternal Child Health)
Three-year, limited-term position. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses; provide clinical instruction in primary and acute maternal child health setting. Required qualifications: Master of Science in Nursing; relevant teaching and clinical experience; current RN License. Preferred qualifications include: Doctoral degree; college teaching experience.

Assistant Professor or Associate Professor*, Nursing (Medical-Surgical) (Adult/Gerontology Acute Care emphasis on Acute Care NP or NP with recent acute care experience)
Tenure track position. Teach undergraduate courses and graduate courses and coordinate and provide clinical supervision in adult/gerontology acute care settings. Requirements include: Master of Science in Nursing; relevant teaching and recent acute care clinical experience. Preferred qualifications include: Doctoral degree; specialty Certification as an Adult/Gerontology Acute Nurse Practitioner. *For Associate Professor, the following additional qualifications are required: Doctoral degree and record of scholarly accomplishment. (Position will become a Limited Term if a qualified candidate for a tenure track position is not identified.)
