The Essentials of Master's Education for Advanced Practice Nursing (AACN, 1996)
The Essentials of Master's Education in Nursing (AACN, 2011)*

*At its April 2011 meeting, the CCNE Board of Commissioners determined that master’s level programs preferring to demonstrate incorporation of The Essentials of Master’s Education in Nursing (AACN, 2011) instead of The Essentials of Master’s Education for Advanced Practice Nursing (AACN, 1996), have the option of doing so while the accreditation standards are being considered for revision during 2011-2012. Therefore, during the standards revision process, master’s programs may select which version of the Master’s Essentials document to incorporate into the curriculum.
