CCNE Standards & Professional Nursing Guidelines

To be used for baccalaureate and graduate nursing program on-site evaluations occurring after January 1, 2010.

The Essentials of Master's Education for Advanced Practice Nursing (AACN, 1996)

* The CCNE Board of Commissioners has determined that, until the revised accreditation standards go into effect in 2014, master’s degree nursing programs have the option of incorporating either The Essentials of Master’s Education for Advanced Practice Nursing (AACN, 1996) or The Essentials of Master’s Education in Nursing (AACN, 2011). Therefore, programs hosting a CCNE on-site evaluation or submitting a report to CCNE in 2012 or 2013 may select which version of the Master’s Essentials document to incorporate into the curriculum.

* The CCNE Board of Commissioners has determined that, until the revised accreditation standards go into effect in 2014, master’s degree nursing programs and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs with nurse practitioner offerings have the option of incorporating either the Criteria for Evaluation of Nurse Practitioner Programs (NTF, 2008) or the Criteria for Evaluation of Nurse Practitioner Programs (NTF, 2012). Therefore, programs hosting a CCNE on-site evaluation or submitting a report to CCNE in 2012 or 2013 may select which version of the NTF Criteria to incorporate.
