Renew Your CNL Credential
The initial CNL certification is granted for a period of five years. Certification must be renewed prior to the expiration date on one’s certificate. Submission one month prior to the expiration date is highly recommended. Certification renewal assures the public that the certified CNL continues to maintain current and relevant knowledge of the CNL role. NOTE: Retesting is not required. A CNL job title not required for renewal.
Late Application Fee
If you submit your renewal application after the December 31st deadline and on or before June 30th, you are required to pay the late renewal. (Example: It’s May 20, 2015 and your certification expired on December 31, 2014. You can still submit the renewal late fee until June 30, 2015.)
You are required to pay the reinstatement fee if you submit your renewal application between 6-11 months after the December 31st deadline (July 1 – December 31 of following year). (Example: It is August 1, 2015 and your certification expiration date was December 31, 2014. Submission of the reinstatement fee is an available option until December 31, 2015.)
Applying to take the exam as an initial candidate is required if your certification has been expired for a minimum of 12 months. (Example: Your certification expired on December 31, 2013 and it’s now June 2, 2015. Your option to reinstate ended on December 31, 2014. You will have to submit an online application with initial exam fee along with all required documents.)
