CNC Offers Discount for the CNL Certification Exam
CNC continues to develop new items for the multiple-choice CNL Certification Exam. As such, the exam that has been administered since April 2012 will be updated beginning with the April 2013 testing period. However, CNC must beta test the items to determine the minimum passing score in compliance with national certification standards. The beta test will occur April 1-6, 2013. All participants who register for the beta test will receive a $50 discount off of the registration fee. To take advantage of this cost-savings opportunity, you must complete the hard copy of the application by March 1, 2013. Beta test participants will receive their exam results via email approximately four weeks after the testing period. For more information, click here.

The Commission on Nurse Certification has extended the registration deadline for the upcoming testing period (December 3 – December 14, 2012). Applications will be accepted until Friday, November 9, 2012. Click here to register.

Team Coaching Workshop
In response to many requests, the format for the Team Coaching Workshop has been modified into a three-part series. We are pleased to offer a revised program that includes a pre-conference session at the 2013 CNL Summit and Research Symposium, along with two follow-up Web sessions. This program will support the CNL and CNL faculty to build capability to lead and coach health care improvement. The overall Team Coaching Workshop will review clinical microsystems and how team coaching offers support, guidance, and encouragement to interprofessionals CNL lead in improvement. CNL Cram Session - Transcript Now Available
A transcript of the CNL chat room’s CNL Cram Session hosted on April 26, 2012 is now available. More than 70 individuals including students, CNLs, and CNC staff participated in the two-hour exchange. Cut Score Study of the CNL Certification Exam
To ensure that the Commission on Nurse Certification (CNC) offers a fair and quality-assured exam that meets national certification standards, a cut-score study will be conducted using an Angoff method for the new CNL Certification Exam. Subject matter experts in collaboration with the testing agency will participate in the study to determine a passing score that reflects the minimal competency of a CNL. Consequently, there will be a delay in all exam score results and pass/fail notices from the April 30th to May 18th CNL Certification Exams.

Those taking the exam from April 30th to May 18th will receive their pass/fail results via email during the week of May 21st. It is extremely important that all examinees included an accurate primary email address on their CNL Certification Application. Successful candidates will receive an email notification of passing only – a score and diagnostic score report will not be provided to the candidate. Unsuccessful candidates will receive an email notification of failing the exam along with the score and diagnostic score report.

CNC Marks Fifth Year with CNL Job Analysis Study
CNC proudly announces the fifth anniversary of the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) Certification Examination in conjunction with the release of the new CNL Job Analysis Study. The CNL Certification Exam was piloted November 2006 to January 2007. To date, more than 1,800 individuals have earned the CNL credential.

CNC Self-Assessment Exam Overview
The Self-Assesment Exam (SAE) is a 40-question online diagnostic tool that parallels the content and level of difficulty of the CNL Certification Exam. The SAE is designed for students, program directors, CNL candidates, and CNL certificants.
