to approach the time-honored and essential element of
clinical education.

Implementing Evidence-Based Practice in Classroom and
Clinical
What kind of practitioner do you want caring for you and
your loved ones? That question should underpin the goals
of the nursing program and result in clear outcome criteria
that can and should be evaluated. Explore pragmatic approaches
to incorporating evidence-based practice and using data
at the undergraduate level to meet the goal of producing
excellent nurses.
Speaker: Ellen Fineout-Overholt, PhD, RN, Director,
Center for the Advancement of Evidence-Based Practice,
College of Nursing, Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ
and co- editor of Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing
and Healthcare: A Guide to Best Practice.

The Nature of Teaching
All undergraduate programs place a high value on teaching,
and faculty typically desire to be good teachers. But
improving education and examining scholarship in the academic
setting require a common conceptualization of what is
meant by "teaching," actually a multi-faceted
and very complex notion. Contemplate how nursing faculty
can reconsider their teaching to result in dramatically
improved learning.
Speaker: Tim Riordan, PhD, Professor, Department
of Philosophy, Alverno College, Milwaukee, WI
