Opening Program Session: Sustaining Nursing Programs in the Face of Budget Cuts and Faculty Shortages

This session will introduce attendees to healthcare education issues in southern Nevada and describe three educational strategies being used at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), School of Nursing and their financial benefits: the “Home Hospital” program, the self-sustaining DNP program, and Differential Tuition.

Tour of the Clinical Simulation Center of Las Vegas

Buses will begin boarding at 3:00 p.m. and leave promptly at 3:15 p.m.

The Clinical Simulation Center of Las Vegas (or CSCLV) opened in August 2009 and is shared among the University of Nevada; Las Vegas School of Nursing; Nevada State College School of Nursing; and University of Nevada School of Medicine.  This Clinical Simulation Center provides state-of-the-art health care education equipment throughout the five high-fidelity simulation labs, three clinical skills labs, a surgical simulation suite, twelve standardized patient rooms, and four multipurpose classrooms. The entire facility is integrated by an all-encompassing Audio-Video management system.

Due to the changing economic climate, it is essential to have a sound financial plan.  This session provides the strategies for budgeting and financial forecasting to develop a plan for the future.

The Tournament of Kings is the most popular dinner show in Las Vegas and guarantees to satisfy your appetite and adventure. Family members and guests are welcome.  The cost for this event is $60 pp and the registration deadline is March 16th.

Program Session: Hardwiring Accountability into Your Workforce

Everyone is talking about accountability but few organizations are actually successful in ensuring that personal accountability is hardwired into their talent and everyday business operations.  Join speaker Cy Wakeman as she breaks down the core competency of personal accountability and gives no nonsense, workable strategies to hire for, coach for, and develop for accountability in your workforce! 

Session Objectives:

• Gain a true understanding of the four elements of the competency of accountability
• Adopt interviewing and hiring techniques that ensure accountability in new hires
• Gain skills in coaching current employees for accountability
• Become fluent in a new employee value metric that measures accountability
• Understand the relationship between accountability and engagement
• Learn key tools and strategies to “hardwire” accountability throughout the organization
