When: November 17, 2011
Location: Sheraton St. Louis City Center - St. Louis, MO
Join AACN in St. Louis to consider issues of vital importance to baccalaureate and pre-licensure nursing education. Sessions will inform, engage, and challenge participants with timely and relevant information and discussions. Attendees have the opportunity to network with colleagues and share successful strategies. The Executive Development Series is once again offered in conjunction with the Baccalaureate Education Conference. Members who attend both conferences will receive a discount on conference fees.
The Baccalaureate Education Conference offers undergraduate and pre-licensure faculty a forum to explore issues of particular interest and share ideas and successful strategies with colleagues. This year’s conference addresses the numerous challenges posed by recent national reports on nursing education, and offers strategies to improve teaching and learning in response to increasing demands for innovation and transformation of nursing education. Plenary sessions address issues of particular importance to nurse educators in the current challenging climate. Topics include the importance of academic-practice partnerships; integrating QSEN competencies in the undergraduate curriculum; and identifying and assessing program outcomes. Concurrent, abstract, and poster presentations allow participants to choose topics of interest in a smaller forum. Teams of faculty are encouraged to attend together. Everyone is invited to register for the special Instructional Leadership Network program session on Thursday morning.
The popular Executive Development Series (EDS) is designed for new and aspiring academic leaders as well as for faculty members who want to improve their leadership skills for a variety of positions within the academic setting. This year’s theme emphasizes the critically important subject of financial administration of the nursing academic unit. Topics include an overview of financial leadership; assessing your school’s financial health; planning for financially robust programs; funding international learning opportunities; maximizing external sources of funding including academic-practice partnerships and philanthropy/development; and the view of finances of the larger university that supports nursing. The interactive nature of the conference offers opportunities for academic leaders to think about challenges in new ways and seek solutions with colleagues. The EDS and Baccalaureate Education Conference are held consecutively, enabling participants to attend both events.
The deadline for early registration is November 4, 2011. Late fees will apply to registrations received after November 4. Email messages confirming registration will be sent to all participants.
