Nurses educated at the master's level for any type of practice need current information about end-of-life/palliative care. The aging population is steadily increasing. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have quality standards for care at the end of life. In September 2011, the Joint Commission began certifying hospitals in palliative care. These trends make it even more vital that graduate nursing faculty be educated in this area so they may teach students in all types of master’s programs. The End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) Project, a national educational program administered by City of Hope and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, is designed to enhance end-of-life/palliative care in nursing, and has reached over 12,500 nurses and other members of the interprofessional healthcare team to date. ELNEC has been taught in 71 countries worldwide and is translated into 5 languages. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about this critical subject matter and receive exceptional teaching resources from this renowned program. Undergraduate faculty are welcome and will find the program applicable.
The deadline for early registration is February 17, 2012. Late fees will apply to registrations received after February 17.
