General Information

The Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) Summit provides a forum for all healthcare and academic audiences currently implementing or interested in exploring CNL education or practice. Conference topics will include the impact and value of the CNL role on improving patient outcomes, implementing and sustaining the CNL role across diverse systems of care, the CNL role in quality and safety initiatives, innovations in education, and the complementary relationship between the CNL and other members of the healthcare team, including nurse managers, APRNs, and physicians. In addition to plenary sessions, concurrent, abstract, and poster presentations allow participants to choose topics of interest in a smaller forum. Special forums for the CNLA membership, CNL faculty, and nursing/healthcare executives also will be offered.

This year's Summit will also feature the following three pre-conferences (separate registration required for each):

  • Team Coaching Workshop Pre-conference
    Early Registration Deadline: December 21, 2012 - Registration OPEN
    This pre-conference session, on Wednesday, January 16, is the first part of the Team Coaching Workshop and Web Sessions, co-Sponsored by the Dartmouth Institute Microsystem Academy and AACN. The two web sessions, also part of this program, occur in May/March 2013. The goal of this program is for participants to learn about and practice team coaching as a CNL or CNL faculty member to support improvement activities of interprofessional front line teams.

  • Teaching Graduate-Level QSEN Competencies: January 16-17, 2013
    Registration Deadline: January 4, 2013
    Building on AACN’s work at the undergraduate level, this pre-conference provides educational resources and training to enhance the ability of faculty in master’s and doctoral nursing programs and practice partners to embed quality and safety competencies into their programs of study.  This intensive workshop is FREE (including two meals and breaks). Registration is limited to the first 100 accepted applicants. Only completed applications will be considered. Selected candidates will be notified on a rolling basis until the maximum of 100 seats are filled.

  • CNL Research Symposium

    A pre-conference workshop Thursday morning, January 17, hosted by the Commission on Nurse Certification (CNC) that focuses on the CNL’s role in data collection and evaluation for reporting clinical outcomes.

Hotel Information

A block of rooms has been reserved at the JW Marriott New Orleans, 614 Canal Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70130. The room rate is $158 single/double. The cutoff date for reservations at the group rate is December 26, 2012. To make reservations, please call the hotel at 800-228-9290 and request the group rate for the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) or CNL Summit.

The room block may fill before the deadline, so be sure to make your arrangements early.


Transportation

The JW Marriott New Orleans is located approximately 16 miles from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY). A taxi ride is approximately $33 each way.

Continuing Education

Continuing Education contact hours will be provided. Certificates will be provided at the conclusion of the conference. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.


Refund and Cancellation Policy

CNL Summit: All registration cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing by January 4, 2013. A refund of the conference, minus a $150 administrative fee, will be given for cancellations received by that date.

No refunds will be granted for requests received after January 4, 2013. Submit all requests to AACN Conference Registration via email at conferences@aacn.nche.edu or via fax (202) 785-8320. Conference registrations are fully transferrable (see Substitution Policy); however, conference fees cannot be transferred to other conferences. AACN regrets that refunds will not be given for no-shows.

CNL Research Symposium: Registrations that are canceled before the meeting will be refunded minus a $45 administrative fee. There will be no refunds for no-shows. Submit all requests to AACN Conference Registration via email at conferences@aacn.nche.edu or via fax (202) 785-8320.

AACN reserves the right to cancel this conference and any group activity that does not meet minimal group requirements. Non-refundable airline tickets are the responsibility of the registrant.


Substitution Policy

Registration substitutions are permitted prior to the conference; however, conference fees cannot be transferred to other conferences. Only one substitution is permitted per original registrant. The individual submitting the substitution request is responsible for all financial obligations (any balance due) associated with that substitution as well as updating any contact information.
