General Information

Begun in 2007, the Faculty Development Conference is aimed at those new to the faculty role and those who would like to gain more self-confidence in teaching in baccalaureate and higher degree programs.  Program and concurrent sessions address various aspects of the faculty role, creating an active learning environment, clinical teaching and evaluation, and other topics of interest to those who wish to improve their teaching practice. Join AACN in Jacksonville, Florida for the 2013 Faculty Development Conference. Gain useful skills to increase your effectiveness as a nursing faculty member. Our conference hotel is conveniently located in the heart of downtown; with a beautiful view over the St. Johns River.

 




Conference highlights

The Faculty Development Conference is aimed at those new to the faculty role and those who would like to gain more self-confidence in teaching in baccalaureate and higher degree programs. During this conference you will have the opportunity to:

  • Discover ways to facilitate student mastery of concepts.
  • Learn techniques to prevent and defuse difficult student situations.
  • Select concurrent sessions that meet your own learning needs for improving your teaching practice.
  • Network with colleagues in discussion groups and interest sessions.

Registration & Fees

The deadline for early registration is January 25, 2013. Late fees will apply to registrations received after January 25. Email messages confirming registration will be sent to all participants.

Hotel Information

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Omni Jacksonville Hotel, 245 Water Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32202. The special conference room rate is $149 single/double. The cutoff date for reservations at the group rate is January 16, 2013. To make reservations, please call the hotel at 800-843-6664 and ask for the group rate for the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) or Faculty Development Conference. The room block may fill before the deadline, so please make your reservation early.

Transportation

The Omni Jacksonville Hotel is located approximately fifteen miles from the Jacksonville International Airport (JAX). A taxi is approximately $28 each way.  Shuttles are available through GO Airport Shuttle and are approximately $ 20 each way. Continuing Education

Contact hours will be awarded to those who attest to attendance at entire sessions and complete the electronic evaluation process.

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation

Refund and Cancellation Policy

All registration cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing by January 25, 2013. A refund of the conference, minus a $150 administrative fee, will be given for cancellations received by that date.

No refunds will be granted for requests received after January 25, 2013. Submit all requests to AACN Conference Registration via email at conferences@aacn.nche.edu or via fax (202) 785-8320. Conference registrations are fully transferrable (see Substitution Policy); however, conference fees cannot be transferred to other conferences. AACN regrets that refunds will not be given for no-shows.

AACN reserves the right to cancel this conference and any group activity that does not meet minimal group requirements. Non-refundable airline tickets are the responsibility of the registrant.


Substitution Policy

Registration substitutions are permitted prior to the conference; however, conference fees cannot be transferred to other conferences. Only one substitution is permitted per original registrant. The individual submitting the substitution request is responsible for all financial obligations (any balance due) associated with that substitution as well as updating any contact information.
