NOTE: The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) will take place on Sunday, October 27th, starting at 7:55 a.m. The MCM weekend, October 24-27, will span the Virginia and DC area, so please be prepared for road closures and possibly extended travel times to the JW Marriott. General Information

Join AACN in Washington, DC for our 2013 Fall Semiannual Meeting. Attendees have the opportunity to share ideas with other nursing academic administrators. Sessions highlight issues of particular concern to nursing education leaders across settings and levels of programs. Associate/Assistant Deans/Directors are invited to attend along with their respective Dean/Chair/Director to develop leadership skills and to network with colleagues.

Multiple Associate/Assistant Deans/Directors Invited

Each member school Dean/Director is invited to bring one or more Associate/Assistant Deans/Directors to the Fall Meeting as a way to familiarize these senior academic leaders with content and issues they will find useful as they assist their deans and improve education in their settings. A reduced rate is offered for these representatives. All meeting sessions are open to Associate/Assistant Deans/Directors, who are particularly encouraged to register for the Organizational Leadership Network (OLN), and attend the free new-member orientation session late Saturday afternoon. 



Registration & Fees

The deadline for early registration is October 11, 2013. Late fees will apply to registrations received after October 11. Email messages confirming registration for this meeting will be sent to all participants.

Registration is open only to the primary Dean/Chair/Director of AACN-Member Schools of Nursing and their Associate/Assistant Dean/Director guests. No exceptions/ substitutions allowed.

Associate/Assistant Deans/Directors will not be able to register until after the dean has registered.

Reagan National Airport (DCA) is located approximately 15 minutes from the JW Marriott Washington, DC and is metro accessible. The closest metro station to the hotel is Metro Center on the Red and Orange/Blue lines, 2 blocks from the JW Marriott Washington, DC. The cost of a taxi from Reagan to the hotel is approximately $20.00. Dulles International Airport (IAD) is 35 minutes from the hotel and a taxi costs approximately $60. Baltimore/Washington Airport (BWI) is one hour from the hotel and a taxi costs approximately $90. Super Shuttle is available for ground transportation from BWI (approximate cost is $38 each way), DCA (approximate cost is $15 each way), and IAD (approximate cost is $30 each way).

Continuing Education

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation.

Contact hours will be awarded to those who attest to attendance at entire sessions and complete the electronic evaluation process after the conference. The CE Certificate will be provided online only after completion of evaluation.

Conference Materials

AACN is dedicated to environmentally responsible practices. Select conference materials for the Fall Semiannual Meeting will be provided online. One week prior to the event, please look for an email with a link to the conference materials.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

All registration cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing by October 11, 2013. A refund of the conference, minus a $150 administrative fee, will be given for cancellations received by that date.

No refunds will be granted for requests received after October 11, 2013. Submit all requests to AACN Conference Registration via email at or via fax (202) 785-8320. Conference fees cannot be transferred to other conferences. AACN regrets that refunds will not be given for no-shows.

Substitution Policy

No Substitutions are allowed for the Fall Semiannual Meeting as it is open only to the primary Dean/Chair/Director of AACN-Member Schools of Nursing and their Associate/Assistant Dean/Director guests.
