General Information

The annual Doctoral Education Conference, concerned exclusively with offering the nursing profession's terminal degree, welcomes deans, associate deans, doctoral program directors, directors of research, faculty, and doctoral students. Sessions address matters specific to doctoral education in nursing, including teaching strategies, program and student characteristics, and research requirements/funding. Participants are encouraged to share successful approaches and respond to the unique challenges affecting doctoral programs.

Join your colleagues in Naples – the crown jewel of Southwest Florida - for an engaging program addressing issues and challenges specific to doctoral education. Attend thought-provoking sessions and network with your peers in a beautiful, relaxed setting.

The deadline for early registration is January 17, 2014. Late fees will apply to registrations received after January 17. Email messages confirming registration will be sent to all participants.

Hotel Information

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Waldorf Astoria Naples, 475 Seagate Drive, Naples, Florida 34103. The special conference room rate is $220 single/double plus resort fee. The cutoff date for reservations at the group rate is January 11, 2014. Transportation

Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) is located approximately 30 miles from the Waldorf Astoria Naples. A taxi costs approximately $72.00 each way. Continuing Education

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation.

Contact hours will be awarded to those who attest to attendance at entire sessions and complete the electronic evaluation process after the conference. The CE Certificate will be provided online only after completion of evaluation.

Conference Materials

AACN is dedicated to environmentally responsible practices. Select conference materials for the Doctoral Education Conference will be provided online. One week prior to the event, please look for an email with a link to the conference materials.


Refund and Cancellation Policy

All registration cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing by January 17, 2014. A refund of the conference, minus a $150 administrative fee, will be given for cancellations received by that date.

No refunds will be granted for requests received after January 17, 2014. Submit all requests to AACN Conference Registration via email at
conferences@aacn.nche.edu or via fax (202) 785-8320. Conference registrations are fully transferrable (see Substitution Policy); however, conference fees cannot be transferred to other conferences. AACN regrets that refunds will not be given for no-shows.

AACN reserves the right to cancel this conference and any group activity that does not meet minimal group requirements. Non-refundable airline tickets are the responsibility of the registrant.


Substitution Policy

Registration substitutions are permitted prior to the conference; however, conference fees cannot be transferred to other conferences. Only one substitution is permitted per original registrant. The individual submitting the substitution request is responsible for all financial obligations (any balance due) associated with that substitution as well as updating any contact information.
