FAQs
Who is eligible to attend a QSEN Faculty Development Institute?
Faculty in all types of entry-level registered nursing programs are eligible to apply. A competitive process will be used to select institute attendees.
Can my institution send more than two faculty members to an institute?
This depends on space availability. We will accept applications for two or more faculty members from the same school of nursing; however, if we reach our maximum capacity of 150 attendees per institute, we will only be able to accept two faculty members. If there is space available, additional faculty can attend but will have to be self-funded and each pay a conference fee of $399.
Can faculty members from the same school attend different QSEN Faculty Development Institutes?
No, faculty from the same school must attend the same institute. After the institute, faculty teams are expected to work together to accomplish the following:
- Critically assess the nursing curriculum
- Train other faculty at their home institution
- Implement changes to increase quality and safety content in nursing curricula
- Participate in both short- and long-term evaluation of the project
When will I be notified that I am selected to participate?
Applicants will be notified two weeks after the application deadline. For application deadlines click here.
Will I receive specific comments on my application after a decision is made?
Due to the large volume of applications, we are unable to provide individual critiques or comments on applications that were not selected.
What if I miss the application deadline? Are there any extensions?
If we are not at our maximum capacity of 150 participants, we will keep the application open until all available seats are filled.
What happens after I am selected?
Once selected, you will receive an acceptance letter and a stipend request form. This letter will have information regarding hotel accommodations as well as an agenda for the institute. You will be responsible for making your own flight and hotel arrangements. All hotels will have a room block under the name QSEN.
How many faculty members will receive the stipend?
We will fund up to two faculty members from each school, who will each receive a stipend check for $350 ($700 total per school). Any additional faculty must be self-funded and pay the $399 conference fee. Please note that schools may only send faculty to the same institute, rather than multiple institutes.
What does the $350 stipend cover?
Each faculty member will receive $350 stipend to help cover travel expenses (including hotel and flights). There is no registration fee or tuition for up to two faculty members from the same school of nursing.
How will the stipends be distributed?
When you receive an acceptance letter, you will need to fill out the stipend request form and indicate whether the check should be payable to you or your school of nursing. You will receive your stipend check along with a certificate of completion at the end of the institute.
