American Lung Association in Oregon
The Saidie Orr Dunbar Nursing Education Fund Trust was established by the Oregon Federation of Women’s Clubs and the American Lung Association of Oregon in 1956 in recognition of Saidie Orr Dunbar who was a leader in the development of public health services in Oregon.  The average award is $1,000 to $3,000. Applicants must have been accepted to a nursing degree program in an institution of higher learning and must practice in Oregon upon graduation. Particular emphasis is given to preparation in public health nursing.

American Public Health Association Public Health

Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR) Fellowship
Fellowship opportunities in public health and preventive medicine interest areas are available with the CDC through the APTR Preventive Medicine and Public Health Fellowship Program. Fellows will gain leadership experience in public health practice and policy, access to state-of-the-art technology and national databases, and will train with leading experts in the field of preventive medicine and public health.

Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Loans & Scholarships
Millions of Americans do not have access to health care because they live where there are not enough health professionals to meet basic needs. Shortages of health professionals suggest many more may soon find themselves unable to see a primary health care provider when they need one. HRSA health professions loan repayment, scholarship and loan programs help to encourage and enable clinicians to work in underserved areas.

Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) NURSE Corps Scholarship Program
The purpose of the Nursing Scholarship Program (NSP) is to provide scholarships to nursing students in exchange for a minimum 2-year full-time service commitment (or part-time equivalent), at an eligible health care facility with a critical shortage of nurses. Scholarships are awarded competitively and consist of payment for tuition, fees, other reasonable costs and a monthly support stipend.

U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps
As a nurse officer in the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps, you will have experiences in your profession, in the community, and in the Nation that are not available in traditional or private practice settings.

United States Public Health Corps Junior Co-Step (JRCOSTEP) Program
Students participating in JRCOSTEP work in the same exciting Federal agencies and programs as active duty Commissioned Corps officers. Typical assignments vary from 31 to 120 days during official school breaks. Applicants are accepted from a variety of fields, including environmental health, pharmacy, engineering, and nursing.
